Weld quality cannot be inspected into the system, but is only as good as the welding equipment, weld procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, materials and surface finish, gas quality, cutting, cleaning, fit-up, and operator experience allow. Puricon third party Quality Assurance services assure that the welding equipment is functioning properly and that the installing contractor follows aforementioned procedures.
Puricon employs quality standards such as Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) F78 and F81 to foster understanding between the Client, the installing contractor, and the inspection contractor as to the quality level to be expected in a finished system.
SEMI F78-0304, Practice for Gas Tungsten Arc (GTA) Welding of Fluid Distribution Systems in Semiconductor Manufacturing Applications. This standard outlines accepted procedures for welding stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant metals and alloys.
SEMI F81-1103, Specification for the Visual Inspection and Acceptance of Gas Tungsten Arc (GTA) Welds in Fluid Distribution Systems in Semiconductor Manufacturing Applications. This standard provides visual inspection and acceptance criteria for welds of stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant metals and alloys.
Puricon third party services will assess the installing contractor to ensure the welders are qualified orbital welders, review all test results and Welder Qualification Reports, and issue a welder identification card detailing which processes the welder is qualified on. Puricon not only identify problems, but also provide solutions. Our experience has proven that quality assurance consultants must perform pipefitting instruction, contamination control training, and one-to-one training of welders in order to keep things going and maintain quality. A technicians or engineers without this flexibility or depth of knowledge to provide creative solutions or work around problems do little to serve the client.
The reality of most projects is that installation teams struggle to comply completely with existing specifications, but the facility still must meet the schedule, even if under less than optimal circumstances. Therefore, a premium is placed on the experience of hands-on field engineers with the breadth of knowledge to know which corners can be cut without jeopardizing facility safety or the process itself. Problem Solving Puricon’s primary responsibility is to inspect the fabricator's work to ensure it meets the requirements of the contract. This will necessitate integration within the activities of the fabricator's production organization.
